Steel’s Jewelry began in 1985 as a wholesale bench work business which included custom design and repair for independent retail jewelers. Our goldsmith business soon grew to servicing approximately 38 jewelers in south Georgia and north Florida. In 1988 we incorporated as Steel’s Jewelry Company, and in 1989 opened our first retail store doing business as Steel’s Gold by Design, with approximately 90% of sales coming from custom designs.
Gradually very discerning customers looking for unique, quality jewelry, versus that of some chain stores, were attracted to Steel’s. As more high-end designer lines were added, meeting the needs of customers who formerly traveled to large cities for the same pieces, the name was changed to Steel’s Jewelry. In October of 2001, we opened our first free standing store in Summit Pointe. In 2007 the square footage was more than doubled providing room for more fine Swiss watches, engagement rings, collectible knives and upscale accessory lines.
Steel’s is very appreciative of our customers. The business has evolved according to customers’ needs and Steel’s Jewelry vows to continue to change and grow to meet the needs of its friends and customers, without whom none of Steel’s Jewelry’s success would be possible.
